SHEQ Manager

The SHEQ Manager is responsible for Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality Assurance areas of the business.

This role requires a real champion and ambassador for high quality safe working practices, who thrives on managing change and the impact of change whilst promoting compliance and continual improvement. Working across all teams and levels and within a tight knit senior management team, no two days will be the same. From audit preparation to supporting customers, from systems maintenance to implementation of improvements with teams a great variety of tasks and interactions is guaranteed in this senior management role.

The SHEQ Manager Role:

Quality

Managing the QC team and the SHEQ Officer
Undertaking a review of current quality systems and their impact on the business performance
Recommending improvements and developing robust quality procedures
Writing policies and working practices within existing BRC Quality and Food Safety System
Preparing for external audits, support external bodies auditing quality systems

H&S

Undertaking site Risk Assessments
Ensuring Regulatory compliance
Reviewing, updating and developing new safe working practices throughout all departments
Embedding new working practices throughout the business

Environmental

Ensuring Regulatory compliance
Reviewing, updating and developing robust systems to ensure compliance with external audits
Contributing to CO₂ reduction and other sustainability measures

 

Ideal Background & Experience:

Food Packaging, Engineering, Manufacturing or Industrial environment
Quality Assurance or Quality Control Management
Knowledge of HACCP principles and BRC Food Packaging and Packaging Materials Standard, Issue 5
Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
Qualified to NEBOSH Certificate level or equivalent
Previous experience in a similar role
Advanced IT (MS Excel, Word) and numeracy skills
Experience of ISO14001 & OHSAS 18001 would be a distinct advantage although not essential.
